How can a person overcome depression?”
Depression is a widespread condition, affecting millions of people. Rich and poor it knows no boundaries. Those suffering from depression can experience intense feelings of sadness, anger, hopelessness, fatigue, and a variety of other symptoms. They may begin to feel useless and even suicidal, losing interest in things and people that they once enjoyed. Depression is often triggered by circumstances, such as a loss of job, death of a loved one, divorce, physical or psychological problems such as abuse or low self-esteem.or poor health.
Our human nature was designed by the Source to seek joy and pleasure not pain. This is not easy for someone suffering from situational depression, but it can be remedied through meditation, study and application, support groups, fellowship among group volunteers, confession, forgiveness, and counseling are a few suggestions to healing this affliction. We must make the conscious effort to not be absorbed in ourselves, but to turn our efforts outward. Feelings of depression can often be solved when those suffering with depression move the focus from themselves to volunteering and the needs of others.
Clinical depression is a physical condition that must be diagnosed by a physician. It may not be caused by unfortunate circumstances, nor can the symptoms be alleviated by one’s own will. in some cases, seeing a doctor for depression is no different than seeing a doctor for an injury. Contrary to what some believe, clinical depression is not always caused by guilt or a weak mind. Depression can sometimes be caused by a physical disorder that needs to be treated with medication and/or counseling. Many turn to the God of their fathers. Of course, God is able to cure any disease or disorder.
There are some things that those who suffer from depression can do to alleviate their anxiety. They should make sure that they are staying in regular meditation and prayer, even when they do not feel like it. Exercise in any form is always good. Emotions can lead us in all of the wrong directions. We must be strong in our belief that the Universe will heal this situation. The old adage “The Universe never gives us more than we can handle…” truly applies here. Although being depressed is not a sign of weakness, one is still accountable for the response to the affliction, including getting the professional help that is needed. We should continually offer up our gratitude to the Universe for our many blessings each day. Also, perhaps try volunteering and getting outside ourselves to help others. By doing this we help ourselves and our world in so many ways.
The choices are always ours. The results are always the product of how we select to to reprogram our minds toward wiser thoughts. The outcome is up to us. Choose wisely.
