S.A.D. (seasonal affect disorder).
Its that time of year when many people get S.A.D. (seasonal affect disorder). The sky is gloomy and nature is hibernating for many parts of the world. Some people begin to get that sad, sinking feeling of rejection, lonesomeness, regret, pain of loss, defeat, all of the dust bunnies that can collect in the attic of our mind. For some people it is inherited, genetically coded into their mainstream computer (the brain).
However, the good news is you can do something about it. There are numerous herbal remedies out there for this type of doldrums syndrome. Bacopa, Sam-e, Kava Kava, ginseng….to name just a few (as always, research if for yourselves first). These are inexpensive and do not require a visit to the doctor, which alone can give some of us more stress and sadness. One Bacopa and some volunteer work and I’m good as new. Find your personal formula and stay happy!
Find a place to volunteer, go visit an elderly neighbor and take them some hot soup and fellowship, call a friend that you know is going through a tough time and be a light unto their day. This type of activity will bring you out of yourself with amazing effects. Others may be suffering from S.A.D.-ness too and you could be just the medicine they need. It’s all doable with the natural wonders the Universe gave us all… but we so often fail to utilize. Love yourself enough to try some of Nature’s love potions for the soul (charity, compassion, laughter, love). You’ll be glad you did. S.A.D.-ness is real, but so are the natural, simple remedies. Don’t be a Gloomy Gus by choice. When you heal yourself you may just be healing others along with you. We love you all.
